Three More Months

To the day until my due date. Notice how I did not say, "Or maybe two more months," mentally anticipating another eight month pregnancy, because that would just be inappropriate, right? Unmotherly, even. All these 5K-ers for the March of Dimes, trying their darndest to prevent early births, and here I am secretly wishing for one just a little early. Like, three weeks or so. Yes, that is definitely unmotherly. So here's me, lifting my glass of Mylanta to A Full Forty Weeks of This Crap! Bring it on!
I am not glowing today. I am a grumpy pregnant lady. I had my first prenatal water aerobics class last night, which I have really been looking forward to, and for the first half it was great. And then we hit the deep end, and as soon as I got chest deep in the water, the heartburn rose up in me until I actually had to go back to the shallow end and take deep breaths while everyone else kicked around on their noodles gaily. I had not eaten or drunk anything but water for four hours prior to the class in anticipation of potential heartburn, and I still got it! The instructor suggested I bring antacids to the class from now on, and also offered this cheerful pearl of wisdom: "Your baby must have a lot of hair!" What the...?
I am also grumpy because when I woke up today, I was so puffy I actually thought my rings might have to be surgically removed from my body. This, after I have been raving to everyone about how the water aerobics really kept me from retaining water during my last pregnancy. So much for that.
Two of the women in the class are due in about three weeks, and were excitedly talking about how much they're effaced, how low the baby's head is, and how they're sure it will be any day now and THANK GOD because they couldn't possibly take another day of being pregnant in this heat! I did my squats and kicks obediently and silently fumed at the knowledge of my own summer-long sentence. Whoops, I mean, gestational period.
I also found what I think is the beginning of a varicose vein on my inner calf yesterday. We won't even talk about that. Nor about how my week-by-week pregnancy book says that if I've been "eating plenty" I should have gained between sixteen and twenty-two pounds by now, and I have in fact gained... More than that. We also won't discuss how I have broken out in itchy and distinctly unattractive little red bumps all over my chest and belly. I assume it's a heat rash. Or LEPROSY.
We will talk instead about another baby name! Because thinking of names reminds me that there is in fact a tiny delicious little baby at the end of this summer, hot and miserable though it might be, and that I am not just suffering from some chronic disease characterized by incurable discomfort and excessive gas.
So the name is... Camden. Or Kamden. Not sure which spelling I like best yet. Anyone a fan? Or not? And don't forget to tell me if it goes with Addy's name, because for some reason this seems very important to me.

I like Camden. I think people will always want to spell it with a C. If you spell it with a K you will have to tell people that everytime someone else has to spell the name out.

Just my opinion. If you like it with a K than go for it!

It can snow any month of the year here. Yes, it's now 65 again and sunny. But we're high enough in elevation (7300 feet or something) that those little freak snow storms aren't a huge surprise.

Heat rash is just as yucky as hives.

I'm also heard that heartburn=hairy baby. I'm sure it's one of those old sayings that really make no sense, ever.

Hairy babies = heartburn??? WTF?!

I like Camden as well and think it goes great with Addy. I still like Bennet the best though. Keep trying names on us, it's fun!

Wow, I can't believe you only have a little while left before that baby is here. Man, I have the 'baby fever' bad. I'll have to post about that soon.

That is strange about getting heartburn in the water. I don't think I got in water that late in my pregnancy and earlier I don't remember it giving me heartburn (although everything else did).

Camden is ok...I'm still stuck on Grady now. I think it fits well with Adelay, the rest of your family names, and your last name. Just my two cents. I don't know why that one just caught my eye. I can picture little 'Grady' already. I'm sure you'll find the right name though. I was really wishy-washy about names. I didn't even know for sure when I went in to deliver my son. I was leaning towards a different name, but that just didn't suit him. Maybe I can use that one for a future baby. Ahh, thinking about babies again.

I like Camden better with the K, I think because I associate K with girl names--totally irrationally, I should add, since there's Kyle and Kip and Kent and Ken and Kevin and Kirk. But still. I think Camden is really good with Adelay.

Henry was born with more hair than my babies usually have, and the nurse said, "Did you have heartburn?" and I was like, "......Yes?" I'd heard of that thing, but more like when you hear about cats "sucking the breath" of infants.

Oh, I meant to say that I totally understand the hoping/not-hoping for prematurity! When I was pregnant with the twins, especially, I KNEW I shouldn't be hoping they'd be born early as twins often are--but I couldn't help hoping a LITTLE. Okay, a lot. Those buggers made me SO uncomfortable.

I really like Camden (with a C)! Do you plan on shortening it to Cam/Kam as a nickname? I think Cam and Addy go well together. And we were very concerned about the two kids' names going well together, too.

Sorry about the heartburn; I am of no help since that was not an issue for me with either pregnancy. And I had one child with a ton of hair and one with absolutely no hair so who knows about that old wive's tale. It's about as believable as the "hiccups mean you're growing" one I hear from my in-laws.

I like Camden. But it also depends on what your last name is, so I'd go with whichever looks better with your last name.

My heartburn was actually worse when I didn't eat anything. First thing in the morning was typically the nastiest bout for me. I took Zantac twice a day for the last two months of my pregnancy. I never once had to take tums or anything. It worked perfectly and it was on my "approved meds" list from the dr. You might want to look into it.

Camden? I'm going to have to thumbs down it again. I think I'm really in love with Beckett.

I like camden. But I really like the nickname "beck" hehe

I had awful heartburn with all 3 so far and none of them have been especially all-over hairy. Which is good because I'm not a werewolf.

Further, I had always thought it'd be kind of cool to go swimming while hugely pregnant, so you could float and the baby could float and it would be all romantic and harmonious... until a)the baby flattens iteslf against my back and b)I have to gradually lift myself out of the pool afterwards...

oh, I'm sorry you're miserable in the heat!! I like the name Camden, and I think it goes well with Abby too.

oh, and I had terrible heartburn both times and both boys were born bald. Actually d was bald till almost 15 mo...

that should have said Addy, not abby. ooops

I've heard that eating tums for heartburn is what makes your babies have lots of hair, not the actual heartburn. I ate two industrial size bottles with both babies and both were born with lots of hair. My son's ears are a little hairy too. :)

I really like Camden. I think the K is more girly. And I still like Landon and Beckett.

Oh, and also Grady.

Sorry you're having a bad day.

I have to be honest, I'm not a fan of Camden. I live close to Camden, NJ, the worst small city in America...it gets that rating every year based on crime rate, poverty level, etc...
so that's what I thik of when I hear Camden.

I do like Cameron though and I think it goes with Adelay.
Sorry, I keep throwing out names that aren't even on your list.

I think you do need to have 2-3 contenders until the little guys is here and then decide what seems like the best fit when he's born.

At the end of my pregnancy, I used to shop to make myself feel better. Nothing crazy, I would browse a lot and then buy 1-2 of my most favorite things every week. It was so fun and made me forget that my fat feet wouldn't fit into my shoes at the end of the day:)

Everyone: Thanks for responding to the name question. Unfortunately, Jim has nixed Camden already, so it is a mute point. But that's all right. I think I really, really like Grady right now. And Lisa, you're definitely right, I'm thinking we're not gonna get it narrowed down until we actually see the little man, so I'll just concentrate on getting it down to a few contenders as you suggested.
