Blogger's Remorse

I have some random questions about blogging for the rest of you out there.
1. Why did you begin blogging/Why do you continue blogging? For me, I just felt the need to stretch my writing muscle before it atrophied irrevocably. If you don't personally have a blog, what brings you to other people's blogs?
2. Who knows about your blog, other than those of us who have randomly found you on the web? Friends, family? I know that some people start blogging specifically to keep long-distance friends and relatives abreast of their lives, and I know other bloggers who write specifically to vent about their friends and family in a safe place!
3. Do you regret telling people about your blog, if you have already done so? Do you worry that one day, your cousin or aunt to whom you casually mentioned, "Oh, I blog!" will find you and be horrified? Do you sometimes restrain yourself from sharing certain hilarious anecdotes (just for example, anecdotes maybe from a baby shower you threw which involved lots of church ladies?) for fear of hurting someone's feelings?
4. Do you obsessively check to see how many people have viewed your profile, read your latest post, etc.? More than once a day?
5. Once you started getting regular commenters, do you now feel slightly obligated to come up with something interesting to say every day? Or do you love reporting on yourself daily, and have to restrain yourself from giving detailed lists of what you ate for lunch? (That would be an entire box of pierogies, fyi.)

1) I started blogging on a whim. I thought it would be fun, and that it would give me something interesting to work on. I read other people's blogs for entertainment, and because it gives me a feeling of social connection.

2) No one who knows me knows I have a blog. I'd feel like those people were "looking over my shoulder" while I was writing, and I'd feel self-conscious.

3) I often restrain myself from typing things that I think might be hurtful if people stumbled on them. It seems like lots of people have a story about how their secret blog was discovered by accident.

4) I haven't figured out / set up a way to see how many people have read my post, but if I DID have a set-up like that, I definitely would check throughout the day.

5) When I started getting regular commenters, I started worrying about LOSING regular commenters!

Good questions. I'm fairly new to blogging, but I'll answer your questions.
1. I started blogging, because I was enjoying reading other blogs. I thought it would be a great way for me to vent my feelings. I wish I would have started blogging about 2 years ago. I think it would have been very beneficial. I like this very much so far.
2. No one knows about this blog (other than you- but I'm ok with that). I decided it would be better for me to have a "private" place to talk about things in my life. I think I like it better that I don't face judgement from family and friends. Maybe someday I'll decide to share this with some people. For now I like it like this.
3. I really haven't told anyway except you. And I don't regret that. I don't think I will. ;)
4.Oh my, I'm already obssessed. I check my blog comments and check other people's blogs to see if there's anything new. I find myself doing this at least 3 times a day.
5. I do feel obligated to keep something posted on my blog. I know I love when on of the blogs I'm reading has a new post. I'm doing as well as I'd like to with new posts yet. I feel like a lot of times someone else blogs about an issue that I've been thinking about. Then I don't want them to think I was copying their idea. I really like to think about what I want to say before I write it. Maybe I shouldn't do that, it might be more fun if I don't think it to death before I post. (For example, I read this post last night and this morning, and finally here I am this afternoon commenting. I knew I wanted to, I just didn't know what I was going to write yet.)

This is a great blog by the way, I am new to the blogging world and I have had some trouble finding interesting and relavent blogs.

1) I started blogging to start writing again, I haven't since I was a Freshman in college and I have felt a void. Also, I wanted to find people to connect to, that maybe someone out there has experienced the same problem and could laugh with me about it. Or maybe someone could offer me some advice.

2) Well, no one yet. I just yesterday started my venture into the blog world. I am not sure if people I know will be interested. I thought about giving it to my mother. See my blog is about how I am a terrible housewife. She nagged me for years to learn to cook and be a lady. I think she would enjoy it, a good way for her to see she was right.

3)I only write about my own failure and mishaps. No one's pride to hurt but my own.

4) & 5) These ones don't really apply to me, no one knowns my blog exists yet. There are no comments and no one is looking.

But maybe, if you are interested in my embarrassing blunders as a housewife here is my blog link- http://amateurhousewifeblog.blogspot.com/
