Whiny and Wistful

I've taken a new lovah, my friends. His name is Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. We've been busy making sweet, sweet love on the floor of every room in the house, which explains my neglect of my poor blog.
No, actually, the truth is a bit less glamorous (not that being hot and bothered over a new vacuum is all that glamorous to begin with...) Eli has had diarrhea for a week now, along with a horrible rash which turned into a yeast infection and required a doctor's visit and a prescription. The rash has all but cleared up now, but the diarrhea continues, so the doctor wants me to take a dirty diaper into the pathology lab to see if he has roto virus. My thoughts on this are as follows:
I really don't think he has roto virus, as he has not vomited, is not running a fever, does not seem dehydrated, and has only been cranky and lethargic when his rash was bad. He doesn't seem SICK, if you know what I mean. Am I a bad mom if I ignore the doctor's instructions? It's not like they would do anything different even if he HAD it, right? Just up the fluids (we've been trying to give him Pedialyte in between feedings) and change diapers frequently and wash hands and all that jazz? Because I can do THAT without taking two kids and a poo diaper in a baggie downtown.

My other Thought Of The Week is this: How is Eli such a big boy? He has begun eating cereal (another attempt to halt the diarrhea) and LOVES it. He snarfed down a whole bowl last night in under five minutes, barely spilling a drop on his bib. And he finally slept through the night following his cereal binge- the first time that's happened in over a month. He is in size 3 diapers now, and is wearing mostly nine month clothing. He weighs almost eighteen pounds, and we are moving him this week into a rear-facing convertible car seat, as he is so heavy in the infant carrier that I have begun having chronic shoulder pain from carrying him to and from the car in it. In a few short months he'll be crawling, and... And then I'll want ANOTHER little baby, I suppose. Sigh.

I'm with you on waiting it out, especially if he is eating and drinking and all that jazz.

I don't suppose the urge for another little one ever goes away, does it? Sigh...

I have nothing useful to offer you here. But I think you and Torsten would get along splendidly. He is in love with our vacuum cleaner, too.

Wow! He IS a big boy. My 15 month old is in size 3 diapers and weighs 20 pounds. Granted, she is the smallest of all my kids at her age, but still. Wow! Maybe he'll grow up to be a middle linebacker. As for the diarrhea, a week DOES seem like a long time, but if he doesn't seem sick... I certainly know what you mean about dragging kids to town, especially in the winter (what with all the bundling up).

I hope he feels better soon! I had to giggle at taking the poo diaper downtown. I only wish I didn't know that experience. lol

Your lova sounds sexy as hell!
I wouldn't take the diaper to the Dr. either. Staying home and resting is much more restorative than traipsing around town with a baggy full of poopy diaper, right?

Your little guy sounds about the same size as my first boy at that age. At two he's not a huge kid now, so the growth must have slowed down somewhere along the way.

Ugh, I'm glad he's feeling a bit better. I wouldn't bother taking the diaper in if it won't make a difference. Just wait it out.

He's big, but I bet he'll thin out when he's older. He's just making up for how small Addy was at that age (still is). ;)

Zoe had rotovirus (or so we think, there was NO taking of any poopy diaper ANYWHERE but the trash) and she was puking like a geyser so I can only imagine that it's something else. Sometimes I think doctors want to feel like they're doing SOMETHING when all you really need to know is that it's some general sickness that will run its course.

Wait, GO BACK to that pet hair eraser thing! How does it work?

I am SO OVER bringing my kid in to the doctor's office for every little "virus". If it's a virus, then by definition, there's nothing to be done but wait it out anyway, right? Which you can do AT HOME. Where the TV is.

O had rotavirus (with no puking BTW) but our doctor said not to bother with testing. first off - if it's rotavirus there is NO mistaking that smell. Also they will do nothing different so I think I'd skip it unless you were trying to rule it out. The diaper yeast infection sucks (we got that with the virus too).
Also - more about the pet hair eraser please! that sounds like something I could fall in love with

I'm with Tessie; I desire more information/statistics/charts/sketches/results analysis on your Pet Hair Eraser doohickey.

Hmm, I will have to look into this special pet hair removal vehicle. With 2 cats, we're practically drowning in it.
