Or Maybe I Could Be Oscar The Grouch?

I really hate how grouchy I get with the kids when I feel so crappy. Also, every time I touch them I think, "Great, more germs!" so I am trying not to hug and kiss on them the way I usually do. Between the lack of physical contact and the sudden barking tone of voice and irritability, they probably think their mom has been swapped out for some heartless nanny. Poor lovies.

Also, I didn't get to hand out candy OR take the kids trick or treating last night since I'm all gross and sick. Jim took them out with their cousins and they had a great time, from all reports, but I'm still sulky that I missed it. AND I have to miss the adult Halloween party we were supposed to go to tonight. I was even going to dress up! As.... something! I hadn't planned that far yet. But I WAS going to do it. And now I can't, since I'm still coughing like crazy and feeling like I can't breathe and as of this morning, blowing my nose constantly.

I guess that could be my costume theme, were I to go- Angel of Death or something. I could just go in my pajamas, sans makeup or bra or use of a hairbrush, and stand in a corner sneezing and moaning and projecting germs. I'm pretty sure I'd win a prize for scariest person there.

I would definitely vote for you!! That sounds like a very scary costume indeed. You will make it up to your kiddos when you feel better and all they will remember is all the extra love they got from Mommy after she was done being sick :)

If you wore a mask like they are handing out at clinics? Yep, people would be scared!

I hope you feel better! Our house is (KNOCK ON WOOD) on the up-tick, finally.

Hey there.... Thank you for the comment. No, I do not look down on ALL single mothers nor do I look down on EVERYONE who lives in government housing. Everyone has their story and has made choices that end them where they are.

This person, however, happens to be my sister who made her bed, should I say literally, and while she'll deny it and say she's been pregnant 4 times "by accident" coincidentally all around the time her "relationships" were rocky and on the verge of ending. Her 2 darling daughters, whom I love dearly, are sadly "keep-a-man-babies". And sadly, it has taken her 41/2 years, 2 kids and 2 unreliable baby-daddies for her to realize the error of her mistakes. The only good thing that came out of it is my two beautiful nieces.

I agree, by just reading my post you may be judging everyone. Not so. I've had a couple friends who needed to rely on government housing assistance for a short while to get back on their feet after a rocky start/end of a relationship. It was just that.... a stepping stone. Help. But my sister... she's made this her way of living.

Constance- Thanks for replying to my comment and taking it in the spirit in which it was meant! And yes, given that background story, your frustration makes a lot more sense.
