Weekend Fun!

Well, that was a heck of a way to make a couple hundred bucks, but by golly I did it, ninety degree temps and wilting humidity be darned (that was a lot of Doris Day type euphemisms for one sentence.) By "did it" I of course mean, "did it inasmuch as the actual sale was in my driveway and I did help put things out, take people's money, and pack things away." But my mom put the ad in the paper, put out the signs, and dragged all her stuff over, and did a lion's share of initial set up as well as attending the sale while I ran back and forth trying to parent as well as make money, so, I should say that I couldn't have done it alone and you are INSANE if you try to do a garage sale by yourself with small children. The end.

We had a semi-hellacious car ride to Michigan yesterday morning, followed by a full day of rain, forcing twenty five people to mingle in approximately fifteen hundred square feet. It is experiences such as these that make me hesitate when thinking of having more kids, but they fade quickly and mercifully from memory, much like certain aspects of childbirth.

Anyways, not much to say other than that: hot, busy, probably going to remain busy for some time what with soccer and a possible trip to Canada next weekend (more car trips why God why?) How about you?

Hey, a couple hundred dollars? That sounds great. We put stuff in with our small group's garage sale in the spring, but I'm thinking I might be able to do another one here. I'm sure we could use the money for SOMETHING good (like it would be hard finding something). Anyway, good for you and YEAH for help.

Good luck with another car trip. We've done pretty good staying closer to home this summer. We don't go out as much, but we're enjoying time together as a family. We had a nice weekend. Matt spent Saturday cleaning out and organizing the garage. So I stayed in the A/C and baked cookies and cleaned without a kid under foot (HA, I sent him out with Matt). And it was nice seeing you at church this morning. Did you just get your hair done? You looked great.

I'm glad you had help and everyone survived!

Sounds worth it to me! Sorry about the heat, though. I can't even think about going outside right now. It makes me suicidal.

A couple hundred?? That is awesome!! I love having garage sales, but definitely not the prep work.

Where in Canada? Just wondering if you will be driving through my neck of the woods.

P.S. Finally sent your gift today. :)

My sister has been married 15 years, and has had about 4 garage sales. Her garage is STILL full, I mean like the-door-is-gonna-break-full. I have only been married almost 5 years, and every time I am in the garage I can tell I am accumulating too much stuff. I plan on cleaning it soon..isn't that what everyone intends to do, and how all this stuff starts? :)Love your blog. Just wanted to say 'hello' from a long time reader!

GAH. I feel so out of touch with my blogs after taking a week off.

Obviously, you know where I went. I had fun, but lord, I'm exhausted.

Canada sounds FABULOUS!!!! I spent three hours doing yard work today in the most disgusting heat- it was so bad that when it was over and I was hosing the patio down (it was covered in weeds and dirt and leaves that I had pulled) I hosed my head, too, while fully clothed!!!! Too bad you can't bring Canadian temps back home with you.

Good luck on another car trip, and hooray for your yard sale!!!! Money for nothing!!!!!!
